Yuna Yang NYFW17
On Saturday February 11, 2017, I went to the showing of Yuna Yang Fall/ Winter Collection in New York City. This was my first New York Fashion Week; even through I was only going to one showing it was very exciting! I got to the Gotham Comedy Club a little too early and I had to stay outside because they were doing a run through with the models. But, I was able to meet some great bloggers while we were waiting to get inside. Shoutout to Allie Woerner (@alliewoerner), Whitney Alese (@thereclaimed) and Juliette Laura (@juliettelaura). The show was 45 minutes late; thank god I didn't have to worry about rushing to other showings. I'm also so glad I printed out my invitation because they were able to scan it and I was one of the first people in the venue. I was able to get a good seat!!
Yuna Yung's collection was titled 'Lights in the Shadows'. From her program it said, "Social and political movements have always expressed their inner light through fashion, whether suffragettes or hippies. YUNA YANG's F/W17 collection pays homage to people who hold on to hope and belief in shadowed times."
The main trends I saw from her collection were beautiful flower prints, lace, velvet and embroidery. I thought it was interesting that all the models were wearing ballet flats and not heels. Also, there wasn't a designated area for the runway, the models just walked around the comedy club. Then, they stepped up onto the stage for a photo-opt.
